A free eye treatment program was carried with the cooperation
\nbetween Sitagu International Buddhist Missionary Group and Htoo Foundation at the Putao
\ndistrict hospital in Kachin State.1,076 eye patients from 25 villages around Putao received eye
\nexamination in which 148 were given free eye operation.<\/p>\n
Htoo Foundation provided transport for the patients and food and lodging throughtout their
\ntreatment or operation period. Eyeglasses are provided free to patients with weak eyesight and
\nsunglasses for those who have undergone eye operation.
\nHtoo Foundation donated one bag of rice each to six monasteries, three nunneries and five
\nchurches in Putao. One hundred bags of rice were also donated to six villlages in Machan Baw
\nand Putao districts.<\/p>\n
To mark the successful conclusion of free treatment program 1,500
\nplanelets were distributed to patients from 25 villages for transplantation in their respective
\nvillages. The plantlets were distributed handed out by Sitagu Sayadaw, U Zaw Mynn, Patron of
\nHtoo foundation, U Htoo Thet Htwe, Managing Director of Air Bagan Limited and U Hlaing
\nTun, District Administrative Office of Putao.
\nWhile in Putao, Sitagu Sayadaw visited Putao jail on 17 August 2012 and delivered sermons to
\nthe inmates after which Htoo Foundation treated them with biryani and presented articles for
\npersonal use
\nSuccessful implementation of the free eye treatmant program in Putao was made possible by
\ndonations from individual donors, contributions of Kyat 10 million each from Htoo Trading
\nCo.,Ltd., Air Bagan Ltd., Elite Tech Group of Companies and Ayeyar Shwe War Co., Ltd., free
