A ceremony to honour successful
\ncandidates from Htoo Foundation's ''Free Education Study group for Matriculating Students''
\nwas held at ''Htoo Foundation's Boarding House for Free Education'' on 12 July 2012 at Duttan
\nWard in Putao. The ceremony was attended by Vice-commander Aung Kyaw Tun, District
\nAdministrtive Officer of Putao District, depermental heads, invited guests, parents, villages
\nelders and students. Htoo Foundation presented Kyat 100,000 and a medal to each of the 41
\nstudents who passed the matriculation exam in three acedamic years and extra Kyat 50,000 for
\neach subject passed with distinction.
\nHtoo Foundation’s “Free Education Study Group for Matriculating Students” was established in
\n2009-2010 academic year.<\/p>\n
In the 2009-2010 acedamic year, 4 out of
\n24 participating students passed the exams constituting 8% success rate. In 2010-2011
\nacedamic year, 12 out of 64 participating students passed the exams with a success rate of
\n18.75% and in 2011-2012 acedamic year, 25 out of 68 participating students passed the exams
\nbringing the success rate to 36.76%. One of the successful candidates passed the exams with
\ndistinctions in mathematics in the 2011-2012 acedamic year.
