In order to prevent silting of the Inle lake, to keep the mountains surrounding Inle lake lush
\nand green and prevent soil erosion, to discourage farmers from practicing mobile farming and
\nto impart a sense of appreciation for environment to the local people, Htoo Foundation has
\ncompleted a 100-acres tree plantation at Kandaw village in Nyaung Shwe Township,
\nSouthern Shan State. The trees planted are teak, cassod tree (Sennasiamea), eucalyptus, flame
\ntree (Poinciana regia), laburnum (Cassia fistula).<\/p>\n
The plantation covered an area of 100 acres surrounding Lwe Tant dam and it is expected
\nthat the trees will prevent soil erosion and silt depositing into Inle Lake. An additional 100-
\nacres plantation is planned at the watershed area east of Mya Thein Tan village. Htoo
\nFoundation endeavors, at its own expense and the co-operation of the public, to preserve the
